Huh. Yeah, the narrating voice was pretty awesome. I was just mostly too uncomfortable with the things that were going on to appreciate the style. I do think a different ending would make it a very different story. Part of my problem, I think, was that the Fight Club/Project Mayhem seemed unstoppable by the end -- they were everywhere, and even after he shot Tyler I wasn't convinced the narrator could really dismantle them -- and since I found them incredibly creepy, I was really unhappy about that.

My reaction also had to do with the people I was watching with, who thought it was unquestionably brilliant and have generally been kind of puzzled by my "but there are no women" responses to movies, so I think my review ended up a little more vicious than I intended because of that, sorry.

(Also, why was I completely convinced it was a Tarantino film? Did I confuse it with Pulp Fiction? *headscratch*)

Edit: Ahahaha, that is an awesome vid. I think I first encountered the song (I am not a music person much either) in a vid about reboot!Trek Kirk, so that gave it added hilarity.
